Balance and New Beginnings at Spring Equinox

As we move from the darkness of winter to the brightness of spring, the Spring Equinox represents a moment of balance in the natural world where every region on the planet experiences equal amounts of daylight and night. Midway between the Winter Solstice and the Summer Solstice we welcome in the revitalising energy of spring as we emerge from our season of hibernation.

Welcoming Balance
The sun is growing higher in the sky each day. The masculine power of the sun is building as we slowly leave the more feminine energy of the dreamtime behind. We are noticing life emerging in nature, the daffodils are out, the buds on the trees, the blossoms are emerging. Despite this growth, we are still in the transitional time of rebirth. Hibernation is ending but not completely.  We are still carrying the energies of Imbolc, holding what is yet to fully emerge. It’s a time to cleanse as we prepare to meet the rising energies of re-emergence and rebirth. As we realign with the rhythms of nature we have an opportunity to reassess our dreams and passions to expand ourselves, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
Navigating Opposites
The Spring Equinox offers us a potent time to navigate the dance of opposites, balancing night and day, dark and light as we emerge from the feminine energy and slowly enter into the masculine energy of the year. A dance of opposites to bring balance to both/and rather than either/or.

Setting Intentions for the Astrological Year
As we enter the energy of Aries season and the beginning of a new astrological year, we are reminded of our power to shape our destinies. Aries is the first sign of the Zodiac, the ‘I Am’ sign of cardinal fire, representing new beginnings, courage and assertiveness. As a fire sign it symbolises passion, energy, and enthusiasm. It is helpful to keep this in mind when setting your Sankalpa (intention for your practice).
