As we start the new astrological year at the Spring Equinox and enter the cardinal fire sign of Aries. Aries is the I AM sign of the Zodiac. Aries embodies the energy of the fire starter, it is not afraid to take action especially when it is action towards a better future for itself. The Spring Equinox is a portal to a new beginning. Spring is the time where seeds that have been planted at the Winter Solstice start to sprout. This is a potent time to vision what you want to bring into your life. This is an opportune time to create a Vision Board.
Vision Boards are a way of creating a material anchor for our dreams. We believe when we have a material anchor to guide us we can remember how to take the steps towards our dreams. There are a few times throughout the year that are best times to create Vision Boards. One is at the Winter Solstice, 21st December, where we enter the Dreamtime in the Celtic Wheel of the Year, another time is the Spring Equinox where we enter the astrological new year and another time is around your Birthday, your solar return. So whenever you would like to create a Vision Board we have some steps for you to create a material anchor for your dreams.
Only you can make your vision board – Don’t be swayed by someone else’s vision or expectations. Your vision board should be a reflection of your unique hopes, dreams and desires.
Keep it where you can see it – Placing our board where we can see it helps us maintain focus on our intentions and reminds us of our goals every day, inspiring us to make them a reality.
It should excite you – Seeing our intentions laid out visually helps make them more real, more tangible and more achievable. It places them closer within our reach.
Don’t be afraid to revise – once we’ve created our vision boards our intentions are out there, giving ourselves the chance to let go, and let the universe do its thing.
Focus more on feelings that objects – Too heavy a focus on physical objects narrows our vision. When we place our powers of manifestation on the physical rather than the emotional, we limit the result the universe may bring us.
DO LISTEN DON’T ATTACH
DO BE CLEAR DON’T FORCE IT
DO STAY OPEN DON’T LIMIT
DO BE PATIENT DON’T OVERTHINK
DO ACCEPT DON’T DWELL IN DOUBT
DO LET GO DON’T EXPECT
The Power of focused attention
There is a tendency for any idea/goal/intention/resolution that is focused upon to actualise itself. When attention is focused on a goal it tends to happen. ‘Energy flows where attention goes’. ‘What you focus on you achieve’. The reason behind this goes back to the way instincts are programmed in the human brain. A pattern which has a realistic connection to the outside world has the possibility of finding its completion there. A pattern that has no realistic connection to the outside world is a fantasy and remains incomplete. As the brain is a pattern matching organ these patterns need to find completion in the outside environment and are continually seeking it. This is a metaphorical process that’s built into us. It is recommended when we are setting goals/intentions/resolutions that these are PAN goals, Postitive, Achieveable and Needs orientated as then there is more probability of us meeting them. Vision boards can help us achieve our goals by using the power of our brain, our pattern matching organ, or our ‘Expectation Machine’ as Rick Hanson (Clinical Psychologist) calls it. By creating a vision board which creates a pattern of how we would like our life to be once we have realised our goals/intentions/resolutions and placing it somewhere we can see regularly it will be a daily reminder of our vision for the future we would like to materialise. Our imagination has a big part to play in this process. If we can imagine our life how it would be if we achieved our goal, we are pattern matching to a different reality. It is important to put your vision boardsomewhere you will see it regularly, i.e. beside your bed, in your kitchen, in the bathroom, on your desk etc. It is also a good idea to only focus on one or two goals to begin with. Once you get used to using your vision board you can add to it with pictures, sayings, words etc. that you collect along the way. You can increase the likelihood of achieving your goal by setting a Sankalpa to correspond to your Vision, your I AM statement then practice a Yoga Nidra daily or at least once a week as you bring your vision into reality. You can find one of our Yoga Nidras on Insight Timer or on Sound Cloud - Soul Matters Ireland.
